About Miniflix

A streaming home for independent films and new voices.

Miniflix brings independent films, short-form series, festival selections, and filmmaker-driven work to Roku, Fire TV, web, and mobile in one focused place.

What Miniflix is

Independent work, presented like it belongs.

Miniflix was built to give short films, independent features, episodic work, documentaries, and festival selections a real streaming home. The goal is simple: make filmmaker-driven stories easier to discover, easier to watch, and easier to keep alive after a screening or release window ends.

For viewers

Watch free across devices.

Viewers can discover Miniflix on Roku, Fire TV, web, and mobile, with a library built around independent films, short stories, series, and curated partner collections.

For filmmakers

A practical path to audiences.

Approved filmmakers use Miniflix Content Management to prepare releases, manage artwork and metadata, organize series, and keep their titles ready for streaming.

Company Background

Built from a long-running idea.

Miniflix has been shaped by the same belief from the beginning: short-form and independent work deserves a better home than being buried, scattered, or treated like filler.

2007

The concept begins

The idea for Miniflix began as a way to give independent short films and filmmaker-driven projects a more intentional place to live outside festivals, DVDs, and scattered web uploads.

2010

The first rough platform

An early version came together around 2010. It was rough, but the direction was already there: short films could be programmed, discovered, and presented with care.

2023 to today

The current Miniflix

The current incarnation began taking shape in 2023 and continues to grow as a streaming platform for independent films, series, festival selections, competitions, and new voices.

Founder Note

Giving back to the film community from a new seat.

Miniflix was founded by Roman JC Weaver, a director of photography and filmmaker who spent years behind the camera helping independent stories get made. After a long career in production, Roman wanted a way to keep giving back to the film community, even when he no longer wanted to be the person holding the camera on every set.

Miniflix grew from that idea: a streaming home built to help independent filmmakers, festival selections, and short-form storytellers reach real audiences on Roku, Fire TV, web, and mobile.
